Route 66 : Kingman, AZ. – Barstow, CA.

October 12, 2017. Following our check out from the hotel, we set off to Barstow. On our way to Barstow we stopped at Crazy Ray’s place …

From Crazy Ray we took the scenic road to Oatman.

Below pictures of Oatman, the donkeys and the old hotel. The hotel was full with 1 dollar notes !

Off then Needles, where it was boiling hot !

We entered the 14th (and last) state since we started our roadtrip more than 3 weeks ago : California !

We decided to go to Amboy, an old ghost town, and of course we wanted to take the old Route 66. But then : “road closed” signs. Road closed ? Not for Borgward ! Jo and Cris took a piece of the Route 66 as a souvenir.

Amboy has a petrol station, post office, diner … and is owned by 1 person : Juan Pollo.

The last part of today’s trip would bring us directly to our hotel when we suddenly received a call from Vincent and Frank. Their car broke down so Dale, Sharon, Randy and Cris returned with the trailer to find out what the problem was. Broken waterpomp. They put the car in the trailer and brought it to the hotel where John replaced the waterpomp.
