October 10, 2017. We left Vegas to continue our trip on Route 66.
The first and only stop actually was Hoover Dam. The construction of the dam started in 1931 and was completed in 1936. The dam was named after the 31st president of America and was the largest of its kind at that time. The dam is still a very impressive construction.
Hoover Dam and Lake Mead have provided a reliable supply of water and electricity to the people of the Southwest. The growth of great American cities like Los Angeles would not have been possible without the dam.
On one of the pictures below, you will recognise, from the left to the right, Jo, Katleen, Luc, Chris, me, Ines and Thilo.
After having visited the dam, we set off to our hotel in Kingman but on the freeway we had to make an emergency stop : Thilo had again a flat tire, the 3rd one already. No stress however, he’s become a real expert. It took him only 7 minutes to replace the tire.
When we arrived at the hotel, Luc and Cris decided to wash their cars while Katleen, Ines and I took a dip in the pool !
In the evening we had a couple of drinks, too much drinks, for some : beer, Sprite “plus” … and ordered pizza. Another lovely evening !
