October 1, 2017. Pouring rain early in the morning with thunder and lightning. Luckily, by the time we left the hotel, it had stopped raining.
First stop at the Lewis Antique Auto and Toy Museum. Over 700 cars nearly all in a very bad condition. John having a haircut in an antique chair…
Then further to Albuquerque Old Town. By that time the sun was shining, temperatures had risen and we had some nice New Mexican food.
We continued to a litle town, Laguna Pueblo. Nothing much to see. Small check on the engines though.
Then a message from Thilo : flat tyre, so off we went, to the rescue. In case you wonder how we communicate : walkie talkies ! They do not go very far but they we have quite some fun using them.
It did not take long to replace the flat tyre. On our way to our next hotel in Grants, we stopped on the Route 66. The landscape was really beautiful and we took lots of pictures. But then all of a sudden a car stopped next to us and said we were a real danger, we were apparently not allowed to take pictures (land from the natives) and the driver warned us he would call the police (or had already called the police). And indeed: 10 seconds later the sheriff arrived so we quickly set off. The sheriff followed us for a while but that’s all. Might have cost us quite some money if he had stopped us … Below some nice photos from before the incident.
